Image is everything to an awfully large segment of the riding population. Sounds like the guy had no business being on a bike yet. Harley Davaidson relies mostly on the image they forged during the Evolution Big Twin era. In general, you should know a lot about bikes before you ever get an HD. They do tend to get cantankerous, and if you don't understand what is going on, you are going down. I absolutely hate seeing a new HD go home on a trailer behind some yuppie-mobile SUV. HD has forgotten about the real biker, the one that kept the company solvent during the late 60'-mid 80's. It is all about profit, inflated egos and personal prestige. I truly don't care what someone rides, but until the have experience, they need to stay off of big bikes, ALL big bikes.
That's my opinion, I could be wrong.
